If you’ve ever had a pastel piece smudge itself into oblivion, you already know glassine deserves a crown. Traditionally used to protect artwork, this smooth, translucent, grease-resistant paper is also a surprisingly fun drawing surface.
Graphite, colored pencil, ink linework, bookbinding pages, and layered collage all benefit from glassine’s slick personality. Your marks behave differently here. They glide, skate, and resist in ways that encourage experimentation. That’s the fun part.
Charcoal Paper: The Toothiest, Most Dramatic Surface in the Drawer
