Costume Crafting and Creative Wearables

Sure, October gets all the attention for costumes, but we’re firm believers that creative dress-up shouldn’t be limited to one month a year. Whether you’re building a Halloween masterpiece, designing a cosplay outfit, or just painting your shoes to match your personality, we’ve got the supplies, inspiration, and enthusiasm to get you started.

And right now, the Art Supply Center is bursting with new fabric paints, funky materials, and recycled treasures just waiting to become something amazing.

Fabric, Paint & Everything in Between

If it sticks, folds, shines, or glows, we probably have it in stock. Our shelves are packed with Tulip fabric paint sets, including glow-in-the-dark colors perfect for nighttime parades, dance costumes, or just making your hoodie a little extra. We’ve also got Angelus leather paints for shoes, bags, and jackets (check out their tutorials online, they’re gold).

Feeling experimental? Try a tie-dye kit, blend fabric paint with metallics or glitter, or layer ribbons and felt scraps for custom textures. You can even combine fabric paint with stencils, stamps, or masking tape for crisp graphic effects.

And don’t overlook your everyday tools. Foam core makes awesome armor, acetate sheets become delicate fairy wings, and paper mache or clay can transform any mask into something wild and sculptural. Around here, costume-making is a full-spectrum art form.

Build Your Alter Ego

Every great costume tells a story, so what’s yours? Are you a forest witch with glowing vines, a retro superhero with hand-painted boots, or a walking sculpture of recycled art supplies? This is your chance to play. Mix materials, experiment with color, and let fabric paint, foam, clay, and ribbon become part of your world-building toolkit. Around here, we think costume-making is less about copying a character and more about inventing your own.

Need Inspiration? We’ve Got You.

We love helping people brainstorm how to turn “I want to make something cool” into “look what I made!” Whether you’re starting with a vintage pattern (we do get those in from time to time), rummaging through our used fiber bins, or picking out paint colors, we’ll walk you through what works best for your project.

And if you’re the research type (we see you, fellow nerds), check out tutorials from Angelus, Tulip, or even a few of the classic DIY makers on Instagram and YouTube. Their projects are the perfect mix of chaotic fun and pro-level tips.
